you can tell i like this guy

Published by Mintyfresh at 5:37 pm under life

Because I knit him a scarf. A scarf! The most boring thing to knit ever invented. A knitting staple that I have knit very rarely, because I find it so deadening to knit one thing for inches and inches and inches, with no shaping or changes.

But there must be something different about knitting a scarf as a surprise for someone who adores you—and who you’re awful smitten with—because I loved knitting this scarf from start to finish.

Scrunchable Scarf
Yarn: Moda Vera “Precious” (95% wool, 5% cashmere)
Balls: 7
Purchased at: Spotlight craft store in Plaza Singapura in Singapore
Needles: US 5 Addi Turbos
Width: About 6″
Length: About 56″
Started: early Jan, in other incarnations, but for reals with this pattern Thursday January 15, 2009
Completed: Friday, January 23, 2009
Notes: Not much to say, other than that I love the way this scarf is reversible and completely mindless to knit. I love the look of garter rib, so this sort of has that effect (but is reversible). I want to knit one for myself in another color! Here’s hoping he likes it, too.

Knitting for someone you adore is a truly gratifying feeling–and working on it when you were apart must have made it all the more special:)

  12. Julieon 03 Feb 2009 at 6:42 pm

Ah, he’s too cute (especially that dimple)! I can see why he’s fun to knit for. I’ve been planning to make it forever, but I can’t drag myself away from sweaters. I probably should get on it before scarf weather is gone…

  13. Colletteon 03 Feb 2009 at 7:03 pm

The scarf’s adorable and so are those dimples! Yikes!

  14. lizon 03 Feb 2009 at 7:11 pm

He looks very handsome it! And 5% cashmere? If it were me, that would really be saying something, in addition to knitting the most boring garment ever invented!

  15. Vanessaon 03 Feb 2009 at 7:12 pm

Well you can tell he certainly likes you! ;)

Knitting long rectangles kills a part of my soul with every stitch, too

He looks like he loves it! He hangs with enough crafty types round flickr to have a good idea of the work it took :)

  22. Lisaon 04 Feb 2009 at 12:06 am

I want to knit a scarf for my cute boy, but he/we live in Louisiana, where they are kind of unnecessary. What to do?

I’m seconding everyone who loves that smile of his! You are one lucky duck. But then again, so is he….finding someone to make a scarf that perfect for him.

  30. Suzanneon 04 Feb 2009 at 12:48 pm

Hi, I have been a “lurker” for ages; I love reading your blog. I just wanted to let you know that I mentioned/awarded you a “Creative Blogger Award” over on my blog. There really is no pressure to pass it on if you want to skip! (Hi, I have been a “lurker” for ages; I love reading your blog. That grin is pretty adorable too. :D
