I, too, fell for the witch hazel photo, (which is not Hamamelis virginiana that blooms in the fall but probably one of the hybrid cultivars of H. x intermedia). Whatever it is, wouldn't it make a great colorway? I love witch hazels for the crimped yarn tassled appearance.

I love your Witch Hazel photo! We have one, too...it makes for great pictures. Does yours have a lot of lichen "communities" on it? Ours is loaded.

The last shot is incredible! Look at all those bright spots of color!! Fantastic!!

I'm with you... Though we received snow this winter, it wasn't nearly enough for my liking. I love winter, though...

Winter. What's that? I just came back to my desk from outside and was just thinking what a perfect day it would be to lay by the pool and relax. We're so deprived.

Beautiful photos! In case you don't know, that first photo is of the Witch Hazel (Hamamelis viriginiana). It is one of the first shrubs to bloom in the very early spring - really still winter here in our area. I love seeing photos of this tenatious plant with snow and ice on its flowers. Central Park (at leas that is were I assume you took the photo) is so full of amazing plants. I am always amazed at the treasures to be found there.
