eye candy friday

Published by Mintyfresh at 7:00 am under eye candy friday

I went for the same walk just 9 days later, and what a difference a sunny day makes! I couldn’t resist taking photos of all the same things as the eye candy friday from 2 weeks ago. Compare for yourself!

bridge, compare (by mintyfreshflavor)

sunny benches, cloudy benches (by mintyfreshflavor)

shiny blues, bluesy blues (by mintyfreshflavor)

Let this be a reminder that it’s as worth it to get out there on a gray cloudy day as it is on a beautiful, sunny day. (I swear to you, those top photos are of the exact same thing on the exact same bridge. That one surprised me the most.)

Wow! That top pair is amazing. This reminds me of a photography class I took in college where we had to take five picture on the same camera in different light - outdoor full sun, outdoor cloudy, fluorescent, tungsten, etc. - and compare the color saturation. We didn’t take pictures of the same objects, but the point was to be able to see that the light was part of the picture. Really interesting.

PS I’ve been reading your blog for a little while but I’ve never commented before! Hi!

My photography teacher in high school actually forbid us from shooting on bright, sunny days.

Very cool! I love the way the grey highlights the muted shine of the sax.

yeah, what Ashley said. My photo instructor also told us that shooting on bright sunny days was a bad idea. Early morning or late afternoon shooting only for sunny days–according to him. (I obviously don’t follow his rules.)

The top photos are pretty wild. When you first put them up, I was surprised that Central Park could grow such consistent mossy stuff… but maybe not!

I love doing exactly what you did - in fact, i photograph the same areas of my neighbourhood over and over again in different light. Even the super-muggy days of summer make for interesting settings.

P.S. I purchased my own fiddy the other day and man, it’s like having a whole new camera!

Love that you went out to take those shots of the contrast.

And that is why they call it “artists light” :)

Wow - what a huge difference! I’m always drawn to the play of dark/light bright/shadow, but seeing these pictures I’m going to make an effort to go out more on cloudy days. Hmmm, we’ve had 3 cloudy days in a row, and then today it’s sunny - drat!
