she knits!

Published by Mintyfresh at 10:42 pm under socks

Look, I didn’t completely forget. I bought this yarn with Pam back in April, and I think not too long after that I cast on for these. I truly do not remember, and for some reason I didn’t blog about it or make any notes whatsoever. I’m going to have to count the stitches around the toe to figure out what the heck I did when I go to make the second sock!

I had planned to knit until the brown ran out–I have two skeins of brown and one of blue, so I worked up a pattern that was essentially 2:1 brown to blue. I want very badly to use up all the yarn, but the socks are nearly TOO tall at this point! They’re almost embarrassing to pull out of my bag on the bus. It’s time to do a cuff and call the first one done.

Oh, they’re perfect! Blue cuff, I hope?
I really need to knit me some stripey knee socks.

Wow, that is a LOT of sock - but it’s amazing! I love the color combination as well. Good luck with the second sock!

I’m laughing at the vision of you pulling out a sock on the bus, and the sock is so long that it rolls down the aisle… hee hee! Love that color combination.

    WOW, it’s looking sooo awesome!

Geez, and I thought you were tall from your photo with Jennie! From the looks of this sock you must be about 3 metres tall!
I love the way the sock looks too!!

    The color combo is beautiful!

I love the pic - I have visions of you laying, all contorted, on the floor with your foot up on a wall so that you have a nice clean background for the shot. The lengths we go to for good blog material.

Ooooh and a fab pic of it too! I keep meaning to make knee socks. Still haven’t gotten to it yet.

What a great color combo! That blue looked lighter in the April pic. I like it this way! Don’t you hate examining your 1st sock when working on your second? Every time I make a pair, I tell myself I won’t do that but it never works. I always use my 1st sock template!!!

Yes, brown and blue are the most unstoppable color combo ever…leave it to Minty to have the unbeatable style quotient once again!

OK, clearly I’m not the only one, but light blue and dark brown is one of my absolute favorites.

And as for length… better too much yarn than too little, right?

  35. Rachelon 17 Jul 2007 at 9:54 pm

I like the idea of you getting out that sock and it just unrolling off your lap and onto the floor and out the bus door or something while you knit merrily and unconcernedly away. Probably humming to yourself.

Let me not neglect to say that it is an awesome sock.
